Springing to new heights!

This term in Purple Class, we have been exploring the theme of growing in so many exciting ways! From learning about life cycles to celebrating important events, we have had a busy time together.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
One of our favorite activities was reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This story helped us understand how creatures develop and transform, and we even created our own caterpillar crafts to bring the story to life. We focused on the food the caterpillar ate and worked on our numbers and counting by what the caterpillar ate each day.

Measuring Growth
Since we were thinking about growth, we decided to measure everyone’s height in the class! It was so much fun to compare our heights and see who was the tallest and to see that our age didn’t mean we would be the tallest as some of our class were even taller than Ciara. (Which isn’t really that difficult) It was amazing to see how much we had all grown!

Caring for Nature
As part of our learning, we made bird feeders to help the birds in our environment. We enjoyed making them with different materials and then watching to see which birds would come and visit. It was a wonderful way to show care for nature and understand how all living things grow and need food, just like us!

Celebrating Special Events
We also celebrated many important events this term:

  • St. Patrick’s Day – We learned about Irish traditions and participated in our school parade.

  • World Autism Awareness Day – We all wore blue and played with our favourite things.

  • World Down Syndrome Day – We rocked our colourful socks to celebrate.

  • International Day – We explored different cultures, and  our class represented China! We listened to a Chinese fable and made some Chinese lanterns.

It has been a fantastic term full of learning, fun, and growing together. We can’t wait to see what new adventures await us next term!
