We have had lots of fun in nature and learning all about the season of spring and exploring the theme of growing. In art we made spring flowers, spring cherry blossom trees and clay Easter eggs and bunnies. In physical education we have been focusing on our aquatics and have enjoyed six weeks of swimming lessons in the Radisson Blu Leisure Centre. We also got the opportunity to engage in a range of different physical activities with our peers by playing boccia with Gold Class. We have worked on developing our gross motor skills through our yoga sessions and we enjoyed doing hand stands and cartwheels. As part of “Being Part of the Community “ we went on various social trips to Bundoran Cinema and Tullan Strand . We enjoy visiting White Class on a Friday for assembly. As part of developing our numeracy skills we have been working on using money functionally for example when shopping and when visiting the cafè. As part of our short course for Junior Cycle we have had the opportunity to learn about Italy and we got the opportunity to dress up in the Italian colours, eat Italian foods and explore and listen to Italian music as part of our International Day which we celebrated recently. To mark World Autism Day we wore blue and to mark World Down Syndrome Day we wore odd socks. In music we explored and played lots of different traditional Irish instruments such as the bodhràn and the accordion. In cookery sessions as part of our “Personal Care and Wellbeing” we have focused on developing our daily life skills and we made a variety of tasty things such as pancakes to celebrate Pancake Tuesday, scones, potato cakes and fruit smoothies. We have had a very busy term in Pink Class.
