St. Cecilia's School

In Silver Class this term we have been exploring the school theme of Growing. We have enjoyed planting some cress seeds and broadbeans . We have looked at what they need to grow and monitoring how well they’re growing . Silver class have been mathematicians , measuring things around the classroom using non-standard units of measurement such as cubes , hands and lollipop sticks. We have talked about long and short and sequenced objects from short to long and visa versa. We have done some baking ,making tastey treats such as biscuits , buns and yummy pancakes for Pancake Tuesday. In visual arts we made lots of wonderful art pieces reflecting the stories we have read, like the very hungry caterpillar or the tiny seed . The boys and girls made lovely 3D caterpillar figurines, plenty of paintings and flower imprint clay tiles. We have had lots of things to celebrate and dress up for this term. We celebrated World Down Syndrome Day rocking our socks , Autism Awareness Day wearing some blue , International celebration looking at Mexico and of course St.Patricks day in our green and walking in the school parade . As the weather has picked up we have been able to enjoy the sunshine on our trips from the beaches as Strandhill and Rosses Point to Glencar waterfall. What a busy term and more to look forward to !
