Green is the most inspirational colour at St. Cecilia’s School. Green Class that is! We have been working hard on the theme of colour this term. We have worked on two books by Leo Lionni – Little blue and little yellow and A color of his own. We have examined the colours red, blue, green, yellow, orange and brown through the books and linking them to LÁMH.
Conor particularly enjoyed the lemon tart we made during yellow week although he could’nt quite make up his mind about the bitter taste! Linda enjoyed orange week, responding very well to the carott soup with sweet potato chips that we prepared. Garbhán ate all his chocolate cola cake during brown week and Niall and Patrick have loved everything that we made – althouth the blueberry panckes and tomato soup went down particularly well for both.
Our community outings were also a success in finding brown sticks and leaves at Hazelwood and finding different coloured shops, restaurants, signs and cars on O’Connell Street in Sligo. We prepared different colourd tables each week and we all worked hard on sorting and matching colours in maths and in the soft play room! as well as focusing on our pre writing and mark making skills through using the interactive whiteboard and assistive writing divices in Communication and Language.
