This year in St. Cecilia’s School we are working with the Green Schools theme of Biodiversity.
A number of people have asked me “What is Biodiversity?” Biodiversity refers to the connection between different kinds of living organisms within a given area. This includes trees, shrubs, animals, birds, insects and fungi.
Some of the things we are hoping to do this term include

  • Installing a nest box with a camera to observe birds.
  • Carrying out a survey of the different types of trees, shrubs and birds around the school.
  • In the school garden we will be creating a “bug hotel” from old wooden pallets and other natural materials.
  • Planting shrubs to encourage wildlife into our environment.

So watch this space for updates and further information!
